HONOR CODE: A GRADE 1 LEADER AMONG SECOND-CROP SIRES
Thu, 10/01/2020 - 16:16
In what is a standout generation of second-crop sires, just three stallions have sired multiple Grade-1 horses including dual Grade-1 winning Honor Code as well as Liam’s Map and Constitution. Honor Code along with Constitution, Liam's Map and Mr Speaker (the latter two also Lane’s End stallions) have taken their legacy a step further to sire a Grade-1 winner in 2020. One of these Grade-1 winners by Honor Code is the newest member of the Lane’s End stallion roster, Honor A. P., who was his sire’s highest-earning son and most expensive yearling from his first crop.
Honor A. P. posted a 102 Beyer in his Grade-1 Santa Anita Derby victory when defeating subsequent Grade-1 Kentucky Derby winner Authentic. Another consistent Grade-1 performer by Honor Code is Max Player, whose performances in 2020 include third place finishes in the Grade-1 Belmont Stakes and the Grade-1 Travers Stakes. Max Player is also set to become the only horse in 2020 to start in all three Triple Crown Races when he takes on the Preakness this weekend.
