MARQUEE MISS: HIP 475 KEENOV
Wed, 10/24/2018 - 20:58
A stakes winner on her debut at two, the fast, classy, and remarkably tough Marquee Miss recently produced a career-high performance on her thirty-third outing and at the age of five. In addition to being an extremely accomplished runner in her own right, Marquee Miss is also half-sister to current grade one winner Promises Fulfilled, the leading sprinter of his crop, and a major contender for the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, and a 2018 Eclipse Award.
Marquee Miss opened her racing career with a three lengths victory in the Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes, beating grade two winner Venus Valentine, and stakes winners Silver Lode and Inconclusive. At three, Marquee Miss added a trio of stakes victories. She defeated grade one winner Nickname to capture the Martha Washington Stakes, a performance that followed a wire-to-wire triumph in the Dixie Belle Stakes. Later that year she accounted for older fillies and mares to take the Holiday Inaugural Stakes, with those behind including multiple stakes winner Needmore Flattery, and stakes winners Melaleuca and Luckyallmylife.
Her most recent two starts saw Marquee Miss score by 3½ lengths in allowance company, running six furlongs in 1:08.53, and then capture the Flashy Lady Stakes by 5¼ lengths, running fractions of :44.53; :56.46; and 1:08.9, and earning a Beyer Speedfigure of 93. A winner from 5½ furlongs to a mile, and effective on dirt, turf and all-weather surfaces, Marquee Miss also earned places in three other stakes events, including a third in the Bourbonette Oaks (G3).
Marquee Miss is a half-sister to the spectacular Promises Fulfilled, winner this year of the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2), Amsterdam Stakes (G3), H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1) and Phoenix Stakes (G2). Blessed, like his sister, with brilliant speed – he has run fractions of :21.28; :43.68; :1:08.43 and :1:21.44 – Promises Fulfilled owns the fastest Beyer Speedfigure by a member of his crop, a 108. He is now not only a leading contender for the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1), but also for an Eclipse Award as the Champion Sprinter of 2018.
Promises Fulfilled, Marquee Miss and her multiple stakes placed sister Marquee Cal Gal, are three of the first four starters – all winners – for her dam, the Gardenia Handicap (G3) second Marquee Delivery. She is also dam of a two-year-old colt by Tiznow, and is bred to Shackleford, the sire of Promises Fulfilled. A half-sister to the dam of stakes winner Noble Bebe, Marquee Delivery is out of the multiple listed stakes winning Fast Delivery.
A mare who owns the rare combination of electric speed, and exceptional soundness and durability, and is a half-sister to one of the most exciting runners of 2018, Marquee Miss sells as a broodmare prospect, ready to visit a stallion of your choice in 2019.
