Wed, 10/24/2018 - 20:55

Offered carrying her first foal – a member of the first crop of the phenomenal Arrogate – Money’soncharlotte is a grade one performer from a quality outcross sire line.

An earner of over $575,000, Money’soncharlotte began her stakes winning career at two, and was still collecting black-type victories at five.

She gained a graded triumph – one of four consecutive wins – in the Molly Pitcher Stakes (G3), scoring by daylight over multiple graded stakes winner Eskenformoney, graded stakes winner Carrumba, graded winner Mo’ Green, four-time stakes winner Power of Snunner, and multiple stakes winners Miss Inclusive and Behrnik’s Bank.

Money’soncharlotte was also successful in the listed Lady’s Secret Stakes, again defeating Eskenformoney; the $200,000 Lady Jacqueline Stakes, accounting for multiple graded stakes winner Martini Glass, graded winner Mo d’Amour, and stakes winners Miss Mo Kelly and Inconclusive; and at two the Hut Hut Stakes, leading throughout to score by 2¾ lengths.

Money’soncharlotte also produced several other notably performances in graded stakes company, earning second in the Beldame Stakes (G1), defeating Eskenformoney, graded winner Verve’s Tale, and stakes winner Bishop’s Pond; and second in the Chilukki Stakes (G2), beaten just a length by the prolific Farrell, and defeating Mo d’Amour, graded stakes winner Tiger Moth, stakes winner Shenandoah Queen, Kathballu, Lake Ponchatrain, Moiety and Steel Cut. She also captured third in the Gazelle Stakes (G2) and Silverbulletday Stakes.

Money’soncharlotte is a daughter of Mizzen Mast, a horse who was not only a highly-talented and versatile racehorse, but has proved to be equally versatile as a sire. A group winner and group one place performer in France, Mizzen Mast also demonstrated his talent in the U.S. and in his last three North American starts took the Bien Bien stakes at a mile on turf, the Malibu Stakes (G1) at seven furlongs on dirt, and the Strub Stakes (G2) at nine furlongs on dirt. As a sire, Mizzen Mast is responsible for 50 stakes winners. They include group or grade one winners on turf, dirt and all-weather surfaces, scoring from six to ten furlongs, and on three different continents. In addition to Money’soncharlotte, among Mizzen Mast’s offspring are such as classic winning Champion Flotilla, heroine of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) and French 1,000 Guineas (G1); Mizdirection, twice successful in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1); Full Mast, who took the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere-Grand Criterium (G1); Hollywood Gold Cup (G1) hero, Mast Track; Ultimate Eagle, victorious in the Hollywood Derby (G1); Ashland Stakes (G1) captress Sailor’s Valentine; and Midships, winner of the Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap (G1).

Mizzen Mast’s sire, Champion racehorse and Leading Sire Cozzene, is now broodmare sire of almost 100 stakes winners, nearly 30 graded. Cozzene is a son of exceptionally important international influence, Caro, and both he and Mizzen Mast are an outcross for most major commercial sire lines, among Mr. Prospector through Fappiano, Unbridled, Gone West, Smart Strike, Street Cry and Seeking the Gold; Northern Dancer through Storm Bird, Danzig and Sadler’s Wells; A.P. Indy, including Tapit; and Halo, including through Sunday Silence and Deep Impact.

Money’soncharlotte is a sister to the multiple stakes winning Mizzcan’tbewrong. Her dam, stakes placed Something Wicked, is half-sister to four-time stakes winner Nicks. She is also half-sister to A Kiss A Way, dam of Sunset Kisses and Stop A Train, both multiple stakes winners and graded placed, and granddam of stakes winner Perfect Step, and currently active stakes winner Four Left Feet. Her granddam, N. C. Goldlust, is half-sister to Champion and grade one winner Cozzene’s Prince – by Cozzene, and so closely related to Money’soncharlotte – and to the dam of graded winner Judicial.

Money’soncharlotte is offered in foal to Arrogate, twice officially rated the World’s Best Racehorse, and one of the most talented runners of the modern era. What’s more she is one of very few graded stakes winning mares in the catalog to be offered carrying her first foal.
